Why Move to El Paso?
Moving and relocating your family can be incredibly stressful and with so many cities to choose from, it can feel like finding the one that will become Home Sweet Home is impossible. Well, El Paso is a great city to move to. From low crime rates to warm summers and mild winters, there are many great things about the Sun City. Why else would Marty Robbins write an entire song dedicated to our beautiful border city? Let’s talk about a few things you should know about EP and why it’s a great place to live.
Neat and Important Facts
The Sun City is a rich and diverse place with delicious foods, vibrant cultures, and a beautiful desert landscape that mixes together to form a truly unique place to live. Here are a few cool facts you should know:
- We Have a Rich History– Because El Paso is located at the intersection of three states—Texas, New Mexico, and Chihuahua, Mexico—its history is richer than most places. From being the six-shooter capital of the late 1800s, where Billy the Kid and other outlaws battled it out, to a rich background in Native American and Mexican, El Paso has a history that transcends generations and cultures with just a hint of craziness thrown in.
- World-Famous Architecture– Before creating the Hilton hotel, Conrad Hilton worked in El Paso, where he designed the Plaza Hotel in the 1930s, a beautiful hotel that is still standing today. Among many of our buildings, there are ones designed by Henry Charles Trost, a famous architect who fell in love with our city.
- Amazing Mexican Food– The borderland is home to some of the finest Mexican food in the United States. With restaurants like Kiki’s, L&J’s Cafe, and Good Luck Cafe, you can eat all of the tasty Mexican food you want.
- Great Weather– We have 302 days of sunshine year round, which is why many people have given it the moniker ‘The Sun City’. Plus, the winters are rather mild, so you don’t have to worry too much about needing to shovel snow in your driveway.
On top of these cool facts, the Sun City also has some interesting demographics:
- As of 2017, the population was at roughly 840,000 people
- The borderland is home to numerous schools within the EP, Ysleta, Socorro, and many other school districts
- We have an affordable housing market with a single family house for rent averaging about $765 a month
- Most people in the borderland are bilingual, with roughly 72 percent of our population speaking a language other than English
